Traveling for the fourth time to Texas to attend the 26th Annual Heard Museum Photography Exhibit and Competition awards reception, Slidell’s Jared Peyton once again finished big. According to Jared, each year that he visits the exhibit, he studies the works of other photographer’s and improves himself by looking at their perspective on a subject. Last year, he saw fantastic scenics and realized that he had only managed one Honorable Mention in this category over the previous three years. He was determined to work to develop more artistry into scenic images and finished with the top two scenic images this year. He admits that his first place image of a silhouetted seagull on a rocky coastline at sunset titled “The Lucky Lens Flare” was a technical mistake but the outcome is very dramatic…and color always wins.
He also managed for the third time to earn one of the competitions grand prizes “Best Environmental Journalism” for his work titled, “I Love My Truck”. The image which according to the judges which shows man positive impact on the lives of our pets is a candid shot of an excited dog who knows he is about to go for a ride in the truck.
